The maker

Hand-burned, rooted in NC

Heather Houser hand-burning a design at her market booth, surrounded by spools of ribbon and dried flowers.
Meet Heather

One maker, one pen

NC Rooted is Heather Houser. She hand-burns every design herself, from her home and her booth in Millers Creek, out in the Wilkes County mountains of Western North Carolina.

It started with a wood-burning pen and a love of the wild things around here: highland cows, wildflowers, feathers, and the ridgelines that gave the shop its name. Now those designs go onto suede hats, bags, shoes, wood, and just about anything else worth making personal.

Because every piece is drawn and burned by hand, no two are ever exactly alike. That’s the point. Yours is yours.

Made for the wild at heart

Whether you grab a ready-made hat or dream up something all your own, it’s made one piece at a time, with Carolina pride.
